Living with Long covid
This podcast aims to raise awareness of long covid, provide a platform of support, education and the lived experience. My name is Julie, I am a registered nurse in the UK. I became unwell with Covid in May 2020 while working on the front line, during the first wave of the pandemic. Subsequently I live with long covid and POTS ( postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome). I would like to share my journey and lived experience, the symptoms and how each impacts daily life. I aim to not only consider the physical issues but also the impact this has had mentally and emotionally. It is reported over 2 million people in the UK and an estimated 65 million worldwide, live with long covid. This is huge, and affects every area of a persons life, their family, friendships and work life. Join me and some great guests and let’s Learn, advocate and continue this journey together.
Living with Long covid
Guest Shannon; Australia's vaccine mandate and living with vaccine injury
On this episode, I have a lovely guest, Shannon is a secondary school teacher from Perth, Western Australia. Shannon was working in an Australian university when she fell under the government vaccine mandate during the pandemic. Subsequently Shannon had an adverse reaction to the vaccine, and for the last 14 months has been living with vaccine injury induced Long Covid.
Shannon has had to give up her dream job, losing her work contracts and permanent job role.
Shannon has a two year old daughter and has struggled to maintain some normality in her family life, for her young daughter, Shannon has a very supportive husband but misses the life she once knew.
Shannon has researched and searched to find treatments, therapeutics and/or support to help improve her health. Finding solitude within support groups and my podcast.
Shannon speaks openly abut the vaccine mandate and how this made her feel, the medical gaslighting she has experienced since her vaccine injury and the lack of empathy following the acute phase of illness. Shannon wanted to be a guest on the podcast to raise awareness of vaccine injury and be a voice for those who feel silenced. I thank Shannon, and hope this episode is impactful and helpful, as always please take care.
